Understanding Additional Budget Behavior in Pequity

When using additional budget in Pequity, it’s important to understand how it behaves across different views—especially when filters are applied. This guide walks through how and where additional budget appears, and why it may temporarily seem hidden depending on your filters.

How Additional Budget Works

If you've added additional budget to a planning group, you’re on the right track. Let’s walk through an example to illustrate what happens:

Example:

  • $5,000 in additional budget was added to Jane Doe’s planning group.

  • This brings her total planning group budget to $7,000.

Where You’ll See the Additional Budget

  1. Planning Hierarchy View (Unfiltered)
The full additional budget is visible when viewing the planning group without any filters.

  2. Admin Workbook (Unfiltered)
If you return to the Admin Workbook and ensure all filters are cleared, you’ll see the full budget—including any additional amounts.

  3. Admin Workbook (Filtered)
When you apply filters, the additional budget will not appear.
    Why?
Pequity doesn't automatically assume how that additional budget should be distributed among employees. Since it's applied at the planning group level, filtering by subgroups causes the additional amount to be hidden.

Summary

View Type Will Additional Budget Appear?
Planning Hierarchy (Unfiltered) ✅ Yes
Admin Workbook (Unfiltered) ✅ Yes
Admin Workbook (Filtered) ❌ No (temporarily hidden due to filter logic)

Budget Rollup

Pequity does not automatically roll up additional budget from child planning groups to parent groups. For example:

If Patricia Planner is the head of multiple teams, and each team receives additional budget, that budget will not automatically appear in Patricia's planning group(s).

Best Practice:
To reflect a consolidated view, manually add the cumulative additional budget from each of Patricia's teams directly into their associated Planning Group(s).

Key Takeaways

  • Additional budget is tied to the planning group level, not individual employees.

  • Filtering by attributes (like job class) hides additional budget because there’s no predefined way to split it across the filtered results.

  • To see the full budget picture, clear all filters.
