[Integrations & Data Management](https://helpcenter.pequity.com/support/getting-started-with-pequity?hsLang=en#integrations-data-management) # SFTP Integrations: How to setup Secure File Transfers to Pequity ## If an API connection with your HRIS isn't available, our Success Team may advise an SFTP connection instead. ### **Using Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) to provide sensitive data files to Pequity** Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) is a network protocol for securely accessing, transferring and managing large files and sensitive data. SFTP requires that the client accessing the server is authenticated, making this a secure method to transfer your company's sensitive data. Using this approach, you can provide your company's most up to date HRIS data by dropping your HRIS exports & any other relevant data files into an SFTP drop zone directly on the Pequity server, created by the Pequity team. ☝️ Your HRIS will have their own rules and limitations regarding SFTP integration when it comes to automated report drops, so please work with your HRIS provider & technical team to determine if setting up regular & automated file drops is possible. ### **How it works** Drop your HRIS employee census into the SFTP server drop zone by following the below steps.  At an agreed upon cadence, Pequity can then locate the files you have provided via SFTP, download them securely, then import the most up-to-date employee census data from the SFTP server into your Pequity instance. #### **Document/Report Requirements** Pequity is able to ingest any of your preferred HRIS employee census data, but here are several required fields and specs.  - File must be .csv - Please be sure to include the following required fields: ![Screenshot 2025-03-20 at 11.44.12 AM](https://helpcenter.pequity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202025-03-20%20at%2011.44.12%20AM.png?width=599&height=27&name=Screenshot%202025-03-20%20at%2011.44.12%20AM.png) ![Screenshot 2025-03-20 at 11.45.25 AM](https://helpcenter.pequity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202025-03-20%20at%2011.45.25%20AM.png?width=540&height=26&name=Screenshot%202025-03-20%20at%2011.45.25%20AM.png) **[Download Pequity's People Data Submission template to get started here](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xXOMO4VhtS7SCuRteUNUzxjiNHVe9yCHej_Pd5DjkMo/edit?usp=sharing)**! #### **Instructions** 1\. Generate a SSH RSA public / private key pair for authentication.  A handy way to do this is to navigate to https://www.wpoven.com/tools/create-ssh-key# If you are working with a HRIS or IT team - they will be able to do these steps for you ![Screenshot 2025-02-28 131916](https://helpcenter.pequity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202025-02-28%20131916.png?width=353&height=103&name=Screenshot%202025-02-28%20131916.png) - Select RSA as the type - Select 4096 bits as the key length - Enter a password for the key - you will need this later - Hit Create Key - Copy the public key - Send this file to your pequity rep via email.  - This is a public key - used by others to authenticate and establish a connection with the owner of the private key. Just this key by itself is harmless and can be shared widely. - The public key usually starts with “ssh-rsa”   - Copy the private key  - Create a file called peq-private.pem on your computer and paste the file contents in it. - Never share this file with anyone over email. A pequity representative will never ask you to share this - someone asking for it likely has malicious intent. Once your pequity rep receives the public key, they will provide you with a username and a path for a connection. 2\. Connection details - - Server: s-d1100303f07c4ba48.server.transfer.us-east-2.amazonaws.com - Username : provided by your pequity rep - Port: 22 - Authentication: we will use the private key you generated. - Path : provided by your pequity rep 3\. Transmit a test file - Pequity will confirm whether the file was recieved and then you can transmit files on an agreed upon cadence.  #### **🎉 All done! Questions?** We’re here to help!
