How to Sync Employee Data in a Compensation Cycle

Pequity gives admins full control over when and how data from the People List syncs into Comp Cycles. This ensures you can review changes before updating employee records or columns.

In this article, you’ll learn:

  • How to sync data for a full column

  • How to sync data for individual employee records

Why Sync Data?

There are two primary methods to sync People List data into Comp Cycles:

  1. Column-level syncs — Updating an entire column (e.g., email, location) with the latest data from the People List.

  2. Employee record-level syncs — Updating specific employee records when you only want to refresh certain data points.

How to See When a Column Was Last Synced

In the workbook view of your Comp Cycle:

  • Look for the sync icon next to a column.

  • Hover over the icon to see which People List column was last synced, and when.

Example: Updating Email Addresses

  1. Suppose the HR team updates an employee’s email in the People List.

  2. In the Comp Cycle workbook, you’ll still see the original email until a sync is performed.

    • This is intentional — admins decide when updates flow in.

Syncing an Entire Column
  • Select the employee records you want to update.

  • Click Bulk Sync and choose the People column to sync from (e.g., Email).

  • Once synced, the workbook reflects the latest data from the People List.

Syncing a Single Record
  • Update one or more employee records in the People List.

  • Back in the Comp Cycle, select only the record(s) you want refreshed.

  • Run a Bulk Sync for that column.

  • Only the selected record(s) will update — others remain unchanged.

Example: Adding a New Column

You can also seed an empty column in a Comp Cycle with data from the People List.

  1. Add a new column in your Comp Cycle workbook (e.g., Office Location).

  2. In the edit experience, go to the sync settings.

  3. Select which People List column to sync with (e.g., Location).

  4. Preview the values to confirm they match your source data.

  5. Click Sync Data.

Your workbook will now display office locations for each employee, along with the sync status showing it is linked to the People List.

Key Takeaways

  • Admins control updates: Data does not automatically flow into Comp Cycles. You decide when to refresh.

  • Two sync modes: Update an entire column, or refresh data for specific employee records.

  • Flexible seeding: Empty columns in a Comp Cycle can be seeded with People List data.
