๐Ÿ’ผ How to Manage Pay Ranges in Pequity: Full Admin Setup Guide

Welcome! In this guide, we'll walk you through the full end-to-end flow for managing ranges in Pequity โ€” including:

  • โœ… Making minor edits to individual values

  • ๐Ÿ“Š Uploading bulk edits or new job levels via CSV

  • ๐Ÿ”’ Assigning custom range access permissions to your team

Letโ€™s dive in!

โœ๏ธ Making Minor Edits to Ranges

If you just need to tweak a value (like adjusting the salary low for a specific role or level), itโ€™s quick and easy:

  1. Navigate to the Ranges page in your admin view.

  2. Locate the specific range youโ€™d like to update (e.g., Business 1, Level 1).

  3. Click directly into the value you want to change (e.g., change salary low from 50 to 55).

  4. Pequity will automatically recalculate your range span and visuals in real time.

โœ… Tip: These edits are great for quick, one-off changes.

๐Ÿ“ฅ Making Major Updates via Data Import

Need to add new roles, update multiple values, or upload a fresh batch of ranges? Hereโ€™s how:

Step 1: Export Your Existing Ranges

  1. Go to your Ranges page.

  2. Click Export to download your current range data.

  3. Open the CSV in your preferred editor.

Step 2: Make Bulk Edits

You can now:

  • Add new roles or levels (e.g., create Business 7)

  • Update multiple salary values at once (e.g., edit low/mid/high columns)

๐Ÿ‘‰ Pro tip: Only adjust the fields you need. Leave other columns unchanged unless necessary.

Step 3: Upload the Edited File

  1. Save your file as a CSV.

  2. In Pequity, go to Settings > Edit Columns.

  3. Select Create New Data Source and upload your updated file.

  4. Give your data source a descriptive name (e.g., Added Business 7).

Step 4: Map Your Data Fields

Pequityโ€™s AI will auto-detect column headers โ€” review and confirm the matches:

  • Ensure key fields like Department, Role, Level, and Geo are correctly matched.

  • If a field (like Level) doesnโ€™t appear, change its data type (e.g., from Number to String).

  • Triple-check that Salary Low, Mid, and High are mapped.

Step 5: Finalize and Publish

  1. Confirm the mapping is correct โ€” even if some columns remain unmapped, you can add them later.

  2. Click Publish to apply the updated ranges.

  3. Your updates (e.g., new Business 7 range or updated Business 1 low value) will now appear live.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Managing Range Access Permissions

Want to control who sees what within your ranges? Pequity lets you define custom visibility settings.

Step 1: Create a Custom Access Group

  1. Go to Settings > Range Access.

  2. Click Create New Access Group (e.g., Tech Range Access).

  3. Select:

    • Which ranges the group can access (e.g., Tech, Tech Premium)

    • Which levels and geos to include

    • Which columns should be visible (e.g., hide equity or bonus fields)

๐ŸŽฏ Common use case: Recruiters may only need to see salary low-to-mid values, not the full range.

Step 2: Assign Access to Users

  1. Navigate to Settings > Team Members.

  2. Select the team member you'd like to update.

  3. Assign them to an existing access group โ€” or create a new one on the spot.

In this article, you learned how to:

  • Make quick, in-app edits to salary ranges
