How Update Your Data Source or Version for Ranges or People

This article walks you through adding or updating a Source or Version in your People and Ranges apps from the Data app in Pequity.

This guide will walk you through how to add or update a Source or Version in your People and Ranges apps— either from the Data app in Pequity or from each app settings page. Whether you’re setting things up for the first time or making adjustments, this article will give you the step-by-step instructions you need to keep your data organized and up to date.

1. Reviewing your Columns and Data Sources

Data Sources are unique templates for People, Ranges, or Other data that you have loaded or that are default in the Pequity apps. Before loading a +New Source or Updating Version review the columns that each source requires and make sure they match your current columns/needs.

--> If your current columns are correctly matched and have all of the data you'd like to include, you can simply Update Version with the same columns in your Data Source.

NOTE: If you'd like to add an additional column for new data, this can also be loaded with the Upload New Version feature.

When you Upload New Version, your mapping will stay the same until updated directly in the People or Ranges Edit Columns settings.

Adding a New Data Source+Remapping

If your columns have changed or you're loading data for the first time - you'll want to add +New Source. New Sources require the data to be selected and mapped in your Ranges or People app settings.

Let's get started Adding a New Data Source for Ranges!

Select the app or Product Area you will want to load your data for and select the file you'd like to load - give your Data Source a name and description to make it easier to select!

Check the row with the column headers for your Data Source then click Next.

Once you've selected your column headers, hit next and the Pequity Data AI will determine if there are errors or rules that can be flagged early in the data source mapping. Be sure to review all errors and rules for each column of your data source to ensure it will be mapped and displayed correctly.

⚠️ Once a Data Source has been added the data rules and types cannot be edited and a new Source will have to be added.

When your Data Source has been successfully validated and loaded you can now begin mapping your Source directly in the Product Area or App.
