Custom Views for HR Teams: Using Roles and Layouts in Pequity
Create clear, tailored views for managers, HR partners, and executives — ensuring each person only sees the data they need.
In Pequity, you can control what different users see in a compensation cycle by combining layouts (which define fields and columns) with roles (which control access and permissions).
Step 1: Create a Layout
Layouts determine which fields appear in a cycle workbook and whether they are editable or read-only.
-
Navigate to your compensation cycle.
-
Click Edit Columns.
-
Select + Create Layout, name it, and click Save.
-
Configure which fields should be visible or editable in that layout.
-
Repeat to create multiple layouts for different audiences (e.g., Manager View, HRBP View, Executive View).
Step 2: Create a Role
Roles combine a layout with permissions and assign them to a group of users.
-
From your compensation cycle, go to Settings → Roles.
-
Click + Add Role, name it (e.g., “Manager” or “Executive”), and click Save.
-
Select a layout for the role.
-
Toggle the permissions for that role (e.g., view only, edit, or approve).
Step 3: Assign Users to Roles
Once roles are configured:
-
In the Planning Hierarchy tab, assign each user to the appropriate role.
-
Users will automatically see the layout and permissions attached to that role when they log in.
Example
-
Managers: See their direct reports, with fields for performance, salary, and recommendations.
-
HRBPs: See broader employee groups, with access to benchmarking data and budget progress.
-
Executives: See company-wide summaries, cost impact, and final approvals.
Why Use Roles and Layouts?
-
Reduces confusion by showing each user only what they need.
-
Protects sensitive data.
-
Makes cycles easier to manage at scale.
